Vintage roses on gradient

The last couple of days I’ve seen amazing flower nails on IG by Kristin aka. @kgrdnr and I was so inspired I had to try some myself. Hers are perfection and mine are… well, not. But they turned out pretty cute anyway. I used a lot of colors, only nail polish for this, but they are so many I can’t list them all. The gradient though is white, OPI ‘Bubble bath’ and ‘Don’t bossa nova me around’.

It’s been a prolific day, I’m so happy I can paint my left again so I might be totally ruining the good effect of the nail oil by removing polish all the time. But hey, I’m enjoying myself and I’ll soak them in the liquid gold again.

I’ve been waiting to paint on my left because I’ve been treating it with Bliss Kiss Pure Nail Oil, a three day intense treatment for starters. I’m doing it now on my right hand and I will show before and after pic’s on that hand. So far I can tell you that I adore this nail oil, my hangnails have evaporated. No other treatment has done that for me before so I’m very happy and the nail seems healthier overall. Review coming up soon.

So on to the design of the day. On a white base I painted triangular shapes with different grey shades and a teeny tiny accent. The white is my trusted Sally Hansen ‘300 White on’, I’m really liking the quality of it and it’s almost a one coater. After that I used OPI ‘My boyfriend scales walls’, Essie ‘Cocktail bling’ and then I mixed the two for the in between grey shade. I also added Essie ‘Resort fling’ as a tiny accent.

Teal sparkle

Some teal polishes today with added Swarovski rhinestones from the Nail Room. I got a gorgeous teal from Cris that’s called Masglo Marinera, a lovely teal color that I paired with a sparkly teal from Viv; Quo by Orly ‘Turquoise moonlight’. The compliment each other really well and for the extra bling I added Swarovski rhinestones.

OPI Rumple’s Wiggin and Admiss Tatan

I have done a nail mail swap with my bestie’s from Canada and Costa Rica, so now I have A LOT of new polishes to play with. So much fun and all of them were new to me, both in colors and brands. We have started playing with our polishes and the yellow textured NOPI I had on the other day was from Canada.

Today it’s Costa Rica polish time. I got this gorgeous blinding neon pink Admiss Tatan, that applies a bit runny but easy anyway. I’m in love with neons but they don’t really capture well on camera, but I did my best. First I paired it up with a lemming polish that recently arrived, OPI ‘Rumple’s wiggin’ from the Shrek collection. A beautiful lavender that went well together with the neon pink. I also added a cute bow from Cris.

After a walk my bow got caught in my mitten and I wrecked my ringfinger. Since I wasn’t ready to part with the lavender I added some chevrons and a nail charm from Hex Nail Jewelry. Colors used are OPI ‘My vampire is buff’ and China Glaze ‘Fairy dust’.

The sun is out

Today it feels like spring. The sun is out and the birds are chirping, it’s wonderful. So I made some sunny nails. A gradient (seems like I do them a lot, well I like them) with Sally Hansen ‘300 White on’, H&M light yellow and OPI ‘I just can’t Cope-cabana’. The accent nail is my first Nicole by OPI ‘Lemon lolly’ from the gumdrop collection. I also added cute little heart stud from the Nail Room.

Horse nails on gradient

This weekend has been busy since I’ve been away riding horses for the first time in ages. Just for that occasion I made horse nails. Of course. First I made a gradient using LimeCrime ‘Lavendairy’, ‘Once in a blue mousse’ and ‘Milky ways’. The silhouette I painted with acrylic paint which was a total pain in the butt this time and kept separating and floating around on my nail. Must have gotten something greasy on the surface I guess.

The weekend was a total success, but now I have problems walking from all my sore muscles.

The Nail Room and a cute surprise

Yesterday I got nail mail with both a gorgeous surprise present from my friend Johanna, a nail polish from Cirque ‘Vaudeville’ and some studs I have ordered from the Nail Room. I just love Cirque colors polishes, they have amazing quality and easy application, this one is no different, a glittery soft purple. Thank you so much Johanna, that was so sweet of you and made me really happy.

The items from the Nail Room made me also excited since they have so much cute stuff and authentic Japanese nail art. For starters I used their little triangle studs paired with a tape mani. Colors used are Sally Hansen ‘300 White on’, OPI ‘I Theodora you’ and Cirque ‘Vaudeville’. I topped it off with Essie ‘Matte about you’ but I also have one picture with shiny top coat. Tell me which one you like best!

OPI Where did Suzi's man-go?

OPI Spring/Summer 2014 Brazil collection

I didn’t buy all of them, only the one’s I really really wanted. Let’s face it, I’m spending way to much money on polish anyway. So here are my take on swatching again. I don’t know how you swatching girls are doing it? It hurts to take it off right away. Even if I don’t keep polish more than a day this is hard for me.  As I did with the Essie collection I tried to do an accent to match the color. I added some more OPI’s for my accent when needed.

I used two coats and top coat for all of them, they are all great to work with as is expected from OPI. I’ve heard and seen some staining from ‘Amazon…Amazoff’, so I saved it for last and haven’t taken it off yet. But where I was sloppy and got some on my cuticles I saw some staining as with many darker polishes, nothing to bad. (Edit: I have taken it off now and it is terrible, the staining on my skin I could get off but I got stains on my nails. I never get stains!) All the colors are cremes except ‘Amazon…Amazoff’ which has a very subtle shimmer to it. It’s hard to see but makes it glide on like butter on to the nail. Lovely.

First up is ‘Don’t bossa nova me around’ a light pinkish nude. Similar to ‘My very first knockwurst’ but a bit lighter. I used them both on the accent so you can see them next to each other and also ‘Taupe-less beach’. Studs from Born Pretty Store. Such a pretty pink nude, delicate and subtle.

Next up is the brightest of them all, ‘I just can’t Cope-cabana’. A super bright yellow creme with wonderful application. I paired it with a distressed accent nail using colors from the collection and added OPI ‘No room for the blues’ also. It was the first time I tried this technique and it was a lot of fun. You can find a tutorial at Chalkboard Nails. This color is so happy and cheerful and will brighten up any day.

Now it’s time for ‘Where did Suzi’s man-go?’ a light mango orangey color. Super sweet and full of summer feeling so I added a sunset gradient with ‘I just can’t Cope-cabana’ and ‘Suzi’s Hungary again’.

Next up is surprisingly my favorite of these, ‘Taupe-less beach’. I don’t know if it’s super original, it is a taupe nude color. But so elegant and demure. Perfect when you want to tone it down. But in my mani it’s not very inconspicuous with my accent nail with a huge charm from OPI Miss Universe collection 2013 on top of ILNP ‘Bottle service’. I was sad to take it off.

And last but not least the most talked about from this collection; ‘Amazon…Amazoff’. A gorgeous green teal which I don’t have any similar colors to. As I said before it was super easy in application. On my accent I added OPI ‘Pure 18k white gold & silver topcoat’ and a cute frog charm from my girls over at Hex Nail Jewelry.

Overall I’m very pleased with all of these and I don’t have dupe’s in my collection. They are lovely to work with and I’m totally ready for some sun and heat.

Sushi nails

Today is the birthday of my Costa Rican friend Cristina and she loooooves sushi. And blue nail polish. So I thought I’d do both for her birthday. I started with a base of Essie ‘Don’t rock the boat’, then sponged OPI ‘No room for the blues’ over that. On top of that I put OPI ‘pure 18k white gold & silver topcoat’ to glam it up a little. Then I painted the sushi kawaii style with acrylic paint.

I’m so happy with the result even if the wasabi looks more like green poop. They look really cute and made me crave some good sushi.

Happy birthday sweet Cris, I hope you have a wonderful day! Go check her out, she’s amazingly talented.

Olympic nails, Sweden

Olympic nails again

Yesterday was a historic day for us Swedes when the women won their 4×5 km relay race cross country skiing. It was extremely exciting, nerve wrecking and wonderful.  The swedish girls gave us a wonderful moment in sports history and I actually got a tear in my eye when Charlotte Kalla crossed the finish line as number one. As I have said before I’m not a sports freak at all usually, but the Olympics are special. We have a long tradition with great skiers from Sweden so it really touches the heart strings with memories of getting to watch Ingemar Stenmark, Gunde Svan and the other great athletes in school. The whole country stops to cheer our national heroes on.

Today it’s another race with the men’s relay race 4×10 km. Go go gooooooo!

My design is inspired by the skiers dresses. It’s so hard to do a white to blue gradient but I’m ok with this one. Sort of.
