Essie Spring 2014 collection ‘hide & go chic’

This is a collection of six colors that according to essie.com is:

“surprising combinations. power pastels. oversized prints. get in the fashion game with six irresistible and playful shades dedicated to women everywhere who aren’t afraid to play – in life and in style.”

So let’s see what I think of them. My first impression is that these colors go really well together and I had no trouble at all finding a common ground for my swatches with an accent nail. They really reminded me of Spring, which of course is a good thing when it’s a Spring collection, ha ha. So I wanted to do lots of different florals only using these polishes in different combinations. Overall the formula is outstanding, even if the brush is kind of small comparing to others it self levels gorgeously over the nails so it’s really forgiving in application. These colors are really my cup of tea and for me Essie really nailed it. I should get paid for these raving reviews 😀

First up is the collections name sake ‘hide & go chic’. This was a one coater for me and super shiny. I always add top coat though, but for shine you wouldn’t need to for any of these.

Next is ‘fashion playground’ the only one with shimmer. It was also the only one that might need three coats, I only did two but I laid it on a bit thick.

‘spin the bottle’ might be the perfect nude for me. As I wasn’t sure about OPI’s ‘Chillin’ like a villain’ with my skin tone this looks better I think for me. If I mattified it I would probably get real mannequin hands. Two easy coats.

Then we have ‘style hunter’, a sexy squishy watermelon coral red. Also two easy coats. I paired it with my new crystals from Born Pretty store that arrived yesterday. As usual you can use my code AMJ61 for 10% off in their store. Look at this super glossy polish!

There is a soft pink in this collection too; ‘romper room’. Again two easy coats and good shine.

Last but not least i ‘truth or flare’. A muted blue with a vintage feel to it. Again two easy coats and high shine.

So there you have it. A wearable, good quality collection. I like them all and will definitely use them a lot for my springtime manicures.

Well this is the last time in a while I’ll be doing a whole collection like this. My wallet has been yelling at me to stop, and I’m going on a no-buy for a while. It’s not like I don’t have other polishes to play with in the meantime.

Please tell me what you think of this collection!
