Roses and dots, easy tutorial

I did a maniswap with Lisa aka. @loudandlavish, a very talented and sweet sixteen year old. I wish I was that good at her age. I chose to do her neon dotticure with roses on top because I adore dots, neons and roses. Cute and easy, sometimes that is what we need.

Here is how I did them:

Start with base color, I used Dance Legend ‘Best Vacations’.

  1. Add dots with dotting tool/bobby pin. I like to do one row at a time so its easier to place them evenly.
  2. My roses I start with a medium pink and just make a big blob where I want them.
  3. I go back with a darker pink and make small c- shapes to outline the petals.
  4. Then I use my lightest pink to highlight, and blend the colors together slightly.
  5. Finish off with adding some leaves where you like them. I use two green colors.
  6. Add top coat and you are good to go!

Summer hiatus, but not really. Maniswap coming up!

I seem to have entered summer mode and don’t have much inclination to blog. So I will reduce my posts but still try to get 2-3 a week. I don’t even know if anyone cares ūüėÄ My nails still get painted though and I’m most active on Instagram, you can find me here. So I will try to recap a bit here.

A while back I did a mani swap with the lovely, talented Gianna from @nailstorming. A mani swap is where you choose a mani from the other person and recreate it. It’s so fun to see your work recreated and interpreted by someone else. She chose the florals that I did with my Costa Rica nail bestie and she did a gorgeous job too. It’s funny how we let some things intimidate us that really we needn’t be scared of at all. Gianna admitted to being scared of florals, when she had no reason at all, since she is AWESOME. I myself am intimidated by water marbling and one stroke flowers which I haven’t even tried once.

Anyway, I did a design of hers which was a gorgeous sunflower on mint/teal background. It was so simple and beautiful I had to recreate it. She has a tutorial on her IG if you want to know how to do it.

And I was going to add a picture of our swap and my pictures are messing with me. Arrghhh, I might get it in later.

Mani swap

I’ve been a big fan of @nailsbydaniellet¬†for a while now. She does the most gorgeous manis and takes beautiful pictures of them too, so when she suggested a mani swap I already knew which one I wanted to do. I have coveted it for a while so this was an excellent opportunity to do them. We took our time and really got tho know each other better during the week and she is such a sweet funny girl. These collaborations are so much fun, to get to know people all over the world and share our love of nail art with each other.

She opted for my sushi mani and I was so happy, it’s an all time favorite of mine so it was going to be so much fun to see her take on it. Her flowery mani is originally from a tutorial made my MrCandiipants¬†but with her own twist to it. Danielle used more of a stabbing technique with it and ruined a brush in the process. But the results are so worth it. I think I did a mix of the two, such a fun and forgiving technique that you can just play around with. I used Essie ‘Bond with whomever’ as base with white dots on and then acrylic paint for the flowers. Matte top coat to seal the deal.

I love love love the result and will definitely do some more flowers like this. I also took some pictures with regular top coat, but the matte is outstanding to me.

And here the pictures from the swap. I’m so happy with the way they all turned out and I adore Danielles little sushis.

Today I did a mani swap with a sweet and talented girl on Instagram called @nonaphilippa¬†. She approached me and asked if I wanted to recreate a mani she created and she would do one of mine. And it is so funny, because when she did her ‘Roy Lichtenstein’ nails I had thought about doing them in the same exact manner, but when I saw her beautiful mani I didn’t want to do the same. Great minds think alike ūüôā Well, when she asked me I knew right away this was the perfect opportunity to do them.

Anona recreated one of my old designs from Instagram featuring a Chihuahua in the rain. And she did a great job.

I used Essie ‘Blanc’ for the base, OPI ‘Vodka & Caviar’ for the dots, ‘Black Onyx’ and ‘No room for the blues’ ¬†for the eye.
