OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Here I’ve swatched OPI’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s collection, with 12 polishes. Audrey Hepburn embodies the classic woman combining glamour with casual everyday style and the whole collection carries that theme. It’s released in 6 Infinite Shine colours, 12 regular nail polishes and 17 gel color shades.

All polishes are swatched with two coats and top coat.

This is a wonderful deep burgundy, a classic stylish shade that is sure to grace any polish stash. Perfect formula.

OPI Sunrise… Bedtime!

OPI Sunrise… Bedtime!

A pink holographic glitter polish with a clear base. This is best worn over another polish of course, but I wanted to show how it looks by itself. Slightly out of focus to see the wonderful holo glitters.

OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous

OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous

OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous

Red metallic polish with red chunky glitter flakes. This took two coats of top coat to even out the chunky surface, the consistency reminds me of the horrible ‘Pineapples Have Peelings Too’. This one is far prettier though and gives a nice depth, but not one of my favourites.

This is an off white shimmer with tiny gold glitters. So subtle and beautiful. It’s a bit sheer though and streaks if you’re not careful as you can see on my pointer.

OPI Got The Mean Reds

A classic creme red with excellent formula. I normally complain about ALL the reds OPI releases every Christmas but I guess in a collection with this theme, it’s really unavoidable.

OPI Rich & Brazilian

A plum shimmer that is truly stunning, wonderful formula. Really deep and vibrant, one of my favourites from this collection.

I’m not sure how to describe this polish; shimmer, glitter or metallic? Well it’s a gorgeous mix of those anyway, a white with pinkish gold. Good formula.

OPI Meet “My” Decorator

An extremely vibrant orangey red creme. It’s almost neon and super bright. A bit unexpected in a winter collection but I love it. Excellent formula.

Black shimmer that is a bit streaky with the first coat but evens out nicely on the second coat. Another favourite from the collection and I love that the shimmer is so visible.

This is a lovely hot pink creme that is super shiny. Perfect formula.

The second holographic glitter in the collection. This one is silver holo in a clear base. As with Sunrise… Bedtime! this will be best over another polish. Shown slightly out of focus here to showcase the holo.

OPI I Believe In Manicures

OPI I Believe In Manicures

OPI I Believe In Manicures

The signature polish that is consistent through the Infinite Shine, nail polish and Gel Color collections. A beautiful blue that really embodies the signature Tiffany boxes. A bit runny, so be careful not to overload the brush, but not to worrisome.

I hope these swatches are helpful to you, which ones are your favourites?

IsaDora #goflawless

I was at IsaDora’s release of a new foundation ‘Cover Up’, that also works as a concealer. It’s full coverage and suits all skin types. In stores week 41. The packaging is a vacuum pump which makes it easy to use, it never gets old and everything comes out. When I tried it I used the face buffer to buff it into my face. It glides on easily and feels soft and moisturising. I used no 64 Classic Cover over my face and no 62 Nude Cover as a concealer/highlighter.
IsaDora also releases a new color correcting concealer ‘Nude Quartet’. To be applied with your fingertips or the concealer brush.

For the Twist-Up Matt lips there are now more colours to choose from to find a matching sculpting lip liner. New colours are 20 Naked, 22 Nude Rose, 24 Ruby Gem and 70 Vintage Pink.

#gomonochrome is the name of this new look to be released week 40. Matt Fixing Blotting Powder is both blurring, moisturising, fixating and matte. I love this since my T-zone tends to get a bit oily. When I tried it on I didn’t have to re-apply during the whole day, and my forehead stayed matte, yay!!!

Kohl Kajal comes in white and black to create the monochrome look.

Eye color wonder bar is released in a new colour palette 02 Smoky Eyes, with a great mix of matte and sparkly shades.

No 71 Blackout is a new Twist-Up Matt Lips and also a part of this collection.

Here is a very professional (not) car selfie where I’m using Blackout on my lips, Cover Up and Matt Fixing Powder and the new eye palette.

Chanel Gris Obscur

I’ve tried on new Chanel ‘Gris Obscur’ with the Le Gel Coat from Le Rouge Collection N°2. It’s a grey black polish with a slight shimmer. The formula is really good and two thin coats gave full opacity. As before the brush is a bit too long and flimsy, not at all to my liking. For the top coat it’s the opposite regarding the brush, it’s shorter and sturdier but a bit too hard. Seriously? How hard can it be? Loads of nail polish makers have brushes that don’t annoy me… But I like the formula of the top coat as well, so if you can overlook the brush issue (I might be a tad picky 🙈) the polish itself is gorgeous.

A big part of this release is the Rouge Allure Ink. It’s a liquid lipstick that goes on like lip gloss and dries matte. Right now I’m having a love affair with these, easy to apply and still moisturising with a velvety matte finish. My only wish is that they would release bolder colours.

Have you tried the new formula polishes yet? What are your thoughts?

Finally, I’ve done these swatches and had the time to write a post about them. This collection consists of 15 polishes, 14 cremes and one shimmer. Three of them are LE; Kerry Blossom, “Liv” in the Gray & Inside the Isabelletway.
The whole collection is perfect in formula which is a relief, we expect perfection from OPI and here you have it. There are also a whole bunch of one coaters. 😱 For real!

I love cremes and these muted fall colours are perfect when you tire of pastels and neons. With no more preamble, here they are.

Love this greige, I found it a bit thinner than the others is the formula. Still good though, and I used two coats here. Pattern is a stencil from SnailVinyls

This dark brown shifts from greyish to red in the undertones. Simply gorgeous. Two coats.

For all of the swatches I used the new OPI Plumping top coat, I’ll try to get a separate post on that later.

My impression of this collection is simply WOW. Excellent formula throughout and with so many one coaters, unprecedented! Even the polishes I thought looked blah in the bottle made me go ooohhh on the nails.

Which ones are you gonna get?

Chanel ÉTÉ Summer 2016

Here is a little review on Chanel’s summer collection 2016 with the new and improved formula. It consists of four colours which all scream autumn to me, not summer. But hey, it’s different from every other collection.

Chanel été summer 2016

Chanel été summer 2016

A green shimmer Émeraude, a silvery gold metallic Canotier, a brown shimmer Cavalière and a bright orange creme Espadrilles. The formulas are truly excellent on them all and they are so highly pigmented that you could almost do only one coat. I’m not a fan of the brush though since I think it’s a bit too long and bendy. Despite the brush they apply easily. Since I never wear polish for an extended time I can’t vouch for the longevity.

Here I made a mani using all four polishes:

Chanel été summer 2016

Chanel été summer 2016

I really like all these colours but for fall, the brown shimmer is my favourite. How do you feel about this collection? Chanel is pricey so I wouldn’t buy these if the colour doesn’t make me drool, and Cavalière might have awoken that must-have if it was presented in autumn.

Hair care, cover up spray.

Today I’m going to tell you about one of my life savers; root cover up. My hair grows very fast and I have loads of grey hairs that annoy the crap out of me. Colouring my roots is not something I enjoy doing every 10 days, and I oftentimes end up going too far in between and look like a hobo as a result. I’ve tried coloured hair shadow, it works pretty well but requires some work. Then I discovered root cover up spray 😱
You just spray it on like hairspray, it’s lightweight, non-sticky and only colours your hair, not the skin. Its temporary and has to be re-applied after you wash your hair, but seriously hassle free. For me this is a perfect product and extends the time I can go between touch-ups with weeks. Here are before and after pictures with very bad quality but I hope you can see the difference.

IsaDora jelly pop

This new collection from IsaDora is released this week and I’m excited to try them out. The Jelly Pop polishes are meant to be worn by themselves for a pop gloss effect, squishy and shiny. Over white for a neon pop effect with high gloss. If you use a silver metallic as base you get a metallic pop, watercolour effect.

I’ll get back to you with a review when I have swatched them.

Gucci Flora anniversary edition with matching nails and sunglasses.

Gucci nails

Sometimes you find a pattern that you just have to put on your nails. Gucci just released an anniversary limited edition of Flora, that arrived at Parfymeri1. Then I discovered that my Gucci sunglasses had the same pattern inside so of course I had to make my nails to match.

It’s been a long while since I took the time to do something so detailed and intricate on my nails and I might have cussed a bit when I realised what a task I had given myself. In the end though I’m very happy I did it and I’m so proud of the result.

OPI I'm Getting a Tan-gerine dupes & comparisons

OPI Retro Summer dupes & comparisons

I actually made these dupes and comparisons, yay! At a first glance the OPI Retro Summer 2016 collection seemed to have some dupes among them so I had to check it out. I pulled out all the polishes that I have that looked close enough, so if they’re not in this post I don’t own them OR didn’t think they were similar enough.

OPI Towel Me About It

OPI Towel Me About It, swatch and comparisons

OPI Towel Me About It, swatch and comparisons

From left to right; OPI One Chic Chick, OPI Towel Me About It, CND VINYLUX Sun Bleached, OPI I Just Can’t Cope-cabana. These are all two coats and no top coat. As you can see both OCC and SB are dustier and TMAI is more citrusy. I think that TMAI is unique enough and just the right shade of fresh yellow to warrant a buy.

OPI SPF XXX

OPI SPF XXX dupes & comparisons

OPI SPF XXX dupes & comparisons

From left to right OPI Down to the Core-al, OPI Can’t Afjörd Not To & OPI SPF XXX. It was hard to capture in this picture but they aren’t that similar. DTTC is definitely more neon and CANT is more orange. Also a thumbs up for SPF XXX.

OPI Sailing & Nailing

From left to right; Essie Meet the Parents, CND VINYLUX Creekside, Essie Find Me an Oasis, OPI It’s a Boy!, OPI Gelato On My Mind &  OPI Sailing & Nailing. I didn’t know I had these many baby blues… aren’t they pretty? 😀 No dupes here either, Yay!

OPI Flip Flops & Crop Tops

OPI Flip Flops & Crop Tops dupes & comparisons

From left to right; OPI Suzi Nails New Orleans, OPI Flip Flops & Crop Tops, OPI Kiss Me I’m Brazilian, CND Vinyl Gotcha & OPI If You Moust You Moust. If FF&CT had mor shine in this picture I think that the three in the middle must definitely count as dupes. Gotcha is sliiiiightly more peachy, but that’s minuscule. What a disappointment OPI, your own dupe… And if you truly love this shade I would go for KMIB because it has a better formula.

OPI What’s the Double Scoop?

OPI What's the Double Scoop? dupes & comparisons

OPI What’s the Double Scoop? dupes & comparisons

From left to right; OPI Love Is In The Bare, CND Vinylux Winter Glow, CND Vinylux Cake Pop, OPI Mod About You, OPI What’s The Double Scoop? & OPI Suzi Shops & Island Hops. This is the color that I thought for sure I was going to have a dupe for, it’s really close but not quite. The closest is SS&IH but it’s more pink while WTDS is more muted and a little bit dustier. Huh, who would’ve thought?

OPI I’m Getting a Tan-gerine

OPI I'm Getting a Tan-gerine dupes & comparisons

From left to right; OPI Where Do Suzi’s Man-go?, IsaDora Peach Club, OPI Crawfishin’ For a Compliment, Essie Resort Fling, CND Vinylux Salmon Run & OPI I’m Getting a Tan-gerine. Such a lovely bunch of peaches, but no real dupes either.

Summary

So these comparisons left me a bit surprised but then a bit underwhelmed as well. Some of these are soo similar to other shades it’s not worth the money, while others definitely are unique and sweet all on their own.

Which ones are your picks?

Ciaté gelology nail polish review

I received three polishes from Ciaté with their new gelology formula, which is in line with what every polish brand is doing these days. Everyone is launching longer lasting formulas.
Here is what Ciaté says:

THE FORMULA ADHESIVE POLYMER gives a longwearing finish for up to 10 days of high gloss shine. EXCLUSIVE GLOSS AGENT optimizes the adherence to nails, allowing flexibility which minimizes chipping and enhances durability. PIGMENT-RICH FORMULATON gives shades 360 radiance for vivid, high coverage colour.

I can’t really review the longevity of them since I need to change my polish all the time, but I’m going to review the formulas and overall impression. Two coats and top coat on all swatches.

Ciaté Gelology Cabaret

This is a deep plum, sophisticated and beautiful. The formula was excellent and the wide brush was easy to handle. With two coats I got full coverage but in some lights I could see a visible nail line. I’m totally in love with this shade.

Ciaté Gelology Cabaret

Ciaté Gelology Dangerous Affair

It’s a deep vampy red with good formula. But I experienced that when it dried it showed all the little bumps and scrapes on my nail, even with a good top coat. I used two coats and top coat.

Ciaté Gelology Dangerous Affair

Ciaté Gelology Iced Frappe

This is a perfect beige nude with a purplish undertone. The formula is excellent and you could get away with one coat, but I did two out of habit.
